From Indonesia, the pop rock band Seventeen formed in 1999 when its members were all 17 years old. The band's original lineup included schoolmates Yudhi Rus Harjanto, Herman Sikumbang, Zulianto "Zozo" Angga, and Windu Andi Darmawan. Vocalists Yohan "Doni" Saputro and Riefian "Ifan" Fajarsyah, and bassist M. Awal "Bani" Purbani joined later. Seventeen released its debut album, *Bintang Terpilih*, in 2003 through Universal Music Indonesia, and remained active until 2018, releasing six studio albums and fifteen singles. On December 22, 2018, while performing at a resort in Tanjung Lesung, the band was struck by the Sunda Strait tsunami. The tsunami resulted in the deaths of almost all band members, including Bani, Herman, and Andi, along with a crew member and their manager. Riefian "Ifan" Fajarsyah was the sole surviving member. Ifan initially announced the band would not continue, but later decided to carry on the name in honor of the deceased members, performing as a solo artist under the Seventeen name.
