About this Song
Stretching across more than seventeen thousand islands that bridge the Indian and Pacific Oceans, the Indonesian archipelago holds one of the most dense, diverse arrays of cultural and sonic heritage on the planet, a lineage of expression that travels through generations, weaving together local belief systems, centuries of cross-island and cross-cultural exchange, and the quiet, persistent rhythms of daily life to shape works that carry the unmistakeable weight of their origin even as they resonate far beyond the borders of the communities that first fostered them.
