About this Song
R&B as a genre has evolved far beyond its early 20th century origins in the United States, spreading across every continent to adapt to local creative priorities, linguistic traditions, and audience expectations, spawning a vast array of regional scenes that each bring their own unique perspective to the core sonic and structural touchstones that have defined the genre through its many eras. In Indonesia, that evolution has fostered a thriving, multi-faceted community of creators working within R&B, all contributing to a domestic and international footprint for Indonesian R&B that draws intentional connections to global R&B trends while remaining rooted in the specific cultural context that shapes all creative work coming out of the country’s diverse, geographically spread creative hubs.
