About this Song
Across the archipelago that makes up Indonesia, a nation of over 17,000 distinct islands home to hundreds of unique ethnic, linguistic, and cultural communities, musical traditions have long folded together disparate influences to create work that defies narrow categorization, a lineage that aligns perfectly with the open, integrative framing of the Music/Mix genre that houses Syukur (Alhamdulillah). In most global and regional creative ecosystems, genre classifications are often deployed to corral work into easily identifiable, marketable buckets, creating silos that separate traditional forms from experimental work, regional sounds from mainstream popular music, and local creators from global audiences.
