Frank Beard, longtime drummer for the Texas boogie-rock trio ZZ Top, has died at age 77. Beard passed away Tuesday in hospice care at his ranch in Richmond, Texas, surrounded by family, according to publicist Bob Merlis. ZZ Top co-founder Billy Gibbons honored his bandmate in a heartfelt statement, calling Beard "one of the most naturally innovative drummers" and confirming the band intends to continue on, as Beard had wished.
