The Grand Forks Police Department told PEOPLE that officers were called to his apartment on August 11 after neighbors reported water leaking through their ceiling, and found his body in his bathtub. Police say there were no signs of foul play, though his cause of death remains pending an autopsy and toxicology report. His mother, Joni, confirmed the news on Facebook on August 13. Duckworth had recently reunited with fellow franchise veterans at the Challenge Mania event in Minneapolis on July 31, just two weeks before his death.
