Tommy Detamore Dead: Country Music Mourns a Legend
About this Song
Pedal steel guitarist, engineer, and producer Tommy Detamore has died, his wife Sandra confirmed. He spent decades shaping the sound of Texas country music from behind the board and on stage. Detamore built his career from the ground up — starting as a steel guitar player behind artists like Darrell McCall and Moe Bandy before opening Cherry Ridge Studio in Floresville, Texas in 1991. From there, he became one of the most trusted producers in Texas country, working with everyone from Ray Price and Johnny Bush to rising artists like Sunny Sweeney and Ty Myers. His wife of 41 years, Sandra, confirmed his passing in an emotional Facebook tribute, remembering him as a mentor, collaborator, and "the love of my life." Fellow musicians including Sunny Sweeney and Tracy Pitcox have shared their own tributes, honoring a career that touched multiple generations of country artists.
