Aegon's golden dragon was left motionless after the Battle of Rook's Rest and widely presumed dead. In episode seven he emerges from the woods, scarred but alive, to defend his rider. Lopez-Corrado explains that the mythic bond between dragon and Targaryen played a central role. When Aegon faced mortal danger, something in that connection helped Sunfyre recover enough strength to rise again. Their matching facial wounds underline the shared trauma. A quieter but crucial development arrives in the final minutes. Lord Ormund Hightower begins recruiting Ulf the White with promises of the Driftmark throne, setting up shifting dragon allegiances and the Battle of Tumbleton. The director notes the show has made deliberate adjustments from George R. R.
