About this Song
Suliranin emerges as a defining work of Philippine pop, shaped by the singular creative vision of IV of Spades, the band that has upended long-held assumptions about the scope and reach of original Filipino music for audiences across the country and beyond. What sets the band’s entire discography, and this sound in particular, apart is its rejection of generic, one-note musical frameworks, leaning instead into a deliberate, layered fusion of influences that feel both comfortingly familiar and entirely unprecedented, crafted to resonate with listeners who grew up on classic Filipino rock and those who engage primarily with modern global pop sounds alike. The band never limits their work to any single artistic lane, weaving together retro production flourishes, tight funk rhythms, raw rock energy, and the sharp, accessible core of modern OPM to create pieces that stick with listeners long after their first encounter.
