About this Song
The creative pairing of Yeni Inka and Yesa Oktavia comes together on the pop sound Gadis Manis Kalimantan, a work rooted in the expansive, diverse musical ecosystem of Indonesia. Pop as a global genre has long adapted to the unique cultural contexts of every region it takes root in, and Indonesian pop is no exception, carrying layers of creative identity that reflect the vast archipelago that makes up the nation, a stretch of thousands of islands each with its own longstanding artistic traditions, community narratives, and musical practices that feed into contemporary pop works that resonate with audiences both within the nation’s borders and far beyond.
