About this Song
Taylor Swift is the credited artist behind Shake It Off, a sound tied to Indonesia that defies every standard of music genre classification, earning a tag of Other across all three layers of cataloging categorization applied to the work. The triple classification of Other is rarely applied to works that slot neatly into the widely recognized genre groupings that structure most music libraries and public catalogs, which typically distinguish between core categories that span pop, rock, hip-hop, folk, electronic, classical, and dozens of subcategories that help contextualize a work’s place within broader creative traditions.
