About this Song
The Indonesian archipelago supports one of the world’s most diverse arrays of creative sonic production, spanning hundreds of distinct cultural traditions, regional creative practices, and experimental approaches that stretch the boundaries of what is commonly understood as musical work. Across the archipelago, creators produce work that draws from longstanding local heritage, global creative influences, and entirely original frameworks that resist alignment with any established set of formal or stylistic conventions, leading to the need for cataloging structures that can hold space for work that does not fit neatly into pre-defined genre boxes.
