About this Song
The Philippines’ hip-hop landscape has grown from a localized adaptation of a global genre into a standalone cultural force that carries the full complexity of the country’s creative identity, weaving together threads that connect local creators to the worldwide community of hip-hop practitioners while nurturing the specific perspectives and experiences that shape creative work emerging from across the Philippine archipelago. This landscape is the foundation for Polar Night, a hip-hop sound rooted in the rich, evolving tradition of Filipino hip-hop that has been shaped by decades of creators pushing the boundaries of the form to center their own lived realities and creative visions.
